Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953729 Composed by Elisha Albright Hoffman, Leila Taylor Morris, Virginia Harmony, and William A. Ogden and Daniel B. Towner. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14567. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953729). Jesus: Savior is a 110 measure, 4-5 octave bell choir arrangement, which also uses 3 octaves of OPTIONAL handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. It is a medley of the Christian hymns: Are You Washed in the Blood, Let Jesus Come into Your Heart, Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound, He is Able to Deliver Thee and At Calvary. The obvious theme is Jesus as Savior, as portrayed in these hymns. There are numerous bass runs, descant lines, and, in the upper bells, doubled melodic lines. The melody is in the bass clef, in the chorus of Let Jesus Come into Your Heart. The harmonies used are often more exotic than those in the original hymn compositions. The shake technique is occasionally used. There is an extra tag ending in the last 2 measures. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano patch/voice, but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound. This is probably a 3- (3 minus) difficulty rating.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953708 Composed by Carey Bonner, Felice Giardini, Michael Haydn, and and George W. Warren. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #2035805. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953708). Majestic God is a 4-5 octave, 110 measure medley of the Christian hymns: Come, Thou Almighty King, Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, Praise Him, Praise Him, All Ye Little Children, O Worship the King, and God of our Fathers. Within this arrangement are descant lines, doubling of the melody line, at times, and some bass runs, and triplets. It probably is a level 3 difficulty arrangement---maybe a 3+ (3 plus). There is a juxtaposition of styles, dynamic levels and tempos within this arrangement, for the sake of variety. The first verse of God of our Fathers is done rather straight-forwardly as a setup for the next verse, where the fanfare portions are significantly different from the original. There is also a fanfare tag at the end. The audio demonstration clip is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953714 Composed by Foundery Collection, John Bacchus Dykes, Traditional English Melody, and and William A. Ogden. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #7477. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953714). The Power of the One is a 67 measure, 4-5 octave medley of Christian hymns whose unifying theme is the Power of the (One) God. This medley is comprised of I Sing the Mighty Power of God, Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above, Eternal Father, Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn) and He Is Able to Deliver Thee. The first two of these hymns are upbeat, and include some melody doubling into the highest octave. Those two and the last hymn make use of occasional descant lines. He Is Able to Deliver Thee is very lively, and utilizes both an occasional descant line, and (fairly fast) bass runs. In between Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above and He Is Able to Deliver Thee, you have the slower, and much more reverential Eternal Father, Strong to Save (also known as The Navy Hymn), which uses handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. This selection helps add a contrast in style, tempo and volume to the other three. At the end, there is a tag consisting of the last part of Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above at a slower tempo, and at a triple forte dynamic level, for a grandioso ending. The fast bass runs contribute to my thinking that this arrangement is probably a 3+ difficulty level.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953716 Composed by Michael Haydn, William H. Doane, and and Franklin L. Sheppard. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #12143. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953716). Worship Him is a 74 measure, 4-5 octave handbell choir arrangement, which is a medley of the Christian hymns: O Worship the King, To God Be the Glory, and This Is My Father's World. The unifying theme is worshiping God. This is a lively arrangement, meant to be a confidence builder for the handbell choir who has four or five octaves of handbells. The nature of the chord choices, runs, brief descant fills and sometimes full chords are chosen to make the arrangement pleasing to the audience and satisfying to the players, in spite of the relatively simple level of difficulty. Tolls (swings) and shakes, which are relatively easy techniques, are used to add interest. This is probably a difficulty level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953721 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, George Frideric Handel, and and John Francis Wade. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #13523. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953721). Joy, Ye Faithful, in This Night is a 78 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir. It also utilizes OPTIONAL 2 octaves of handchimes . It is a medley of the Christmas carols: Joy to the World, Silent Night and O Come, All Ye Faithful. It starts out, joyfully, at a strong dynamic level, with Joy to the World. Then, it becomes soft for Silent Night, going into a CHORUS of O Come, All Ye Faithful that grows in volume to double forte, at which time the verse portion of O come, All Ye Faithful starts. At the next chorus, the dynamic progression is repeated, until the final chorus becomes triple forte at the very end. The handchimes are used simultaneously with handbells during Silent Night, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes. That section is very slow and laid back, with its strong point being more exotic chords than the traditional carol. The first and last sections of the arrangement are faster (and louder), both with surprise key changes. The last section also features very full chords, in places, starting with the verse of O Come, All Ye Faithful. I would think that this is probably a level 2+ arrangement in difficulty---mostly because of the 16th notes in Joy to the World. The audio clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953717 Composed by Martin Luther, Welsh Hymn Tune, and and Conrad Kocher. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #13471. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953717). Immortal Fortress, Lord of Beauty is a 55 measure, 4-5 octave handbell choir arrangement medley of the Christian hymns: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, and For the Beauty of the Earth. Including the brief introduction and the slightly elongated ending, it takes 2 minutes and 7 seconds to perform at the suggested tempo markings. Praising God is the obvious underlying and unifying theme. There is a doubled descant line in the first half of For the Beauty of the Earth---then, during the last line---shakes and tolls (swings). Melody doubling is used in the second hymn. The difficulty level is about 3 or 3+ primarily due to the eighth-note bass runs in the first two hymns.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953722 Composed by George Frideric Handel, John Francis Wade, Phillips Brooks, and and Felix Mendelssohn. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14023. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953722). Christmas Joy is a 3-4-5 octave, 58 measure, handbell choir arrangement, which is a medley of Christmas carols, including Joy to the World, O, Little Town of Bethlehem, a little bit of O Come, All Ye Faithful and the chorus to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. I would guess that this arrangement is a level 2+ (2 plus) degree of difficulty, due primarily to the quick eighth-note bass runs in Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. It starts softly, then repeats the opening phrase (Joy to the World) twice, each time louder. The last time, which actually starts the carol, is loud and bold. This naturally contrasts with the next carol (O, Little Town of Bethlehem). The first line of O Come Let Us Adore Him forms a natural-sounding bridge to the enthusiastic chorus of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The very ending is half-timed, with tolls (swings). I think that this arrangement is probably a 2+ (2 plus) level of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953727 Composed by William B. Bradbury and John B. Dykes. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14257. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953727). Holy God Medley is a medley of the Christian hymns: He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought and Holy, Holy, Holy arranged for 4-5 octave handbell choirs. It starts with a two measure introduction, followed by He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought. This is fairly up-tempo, with a surprise modulation going into the chorus. In the chorus, there are bass runs, a brief descant line, and doubling of the melody into the high bells. There are then two verses of Holy, Holy, Holy. The first verse is slow and is in ¾ time, instead of the normal common meter. It is also soft and *very* plain, as a setup for the last verse, which is faster, and grows in volume to the end, with much fuller chords, and uses the normal common meter that the original hymn uses. There is another surprise modulation halfway through this verse. Very full chords are used, with a brief bass clef downward arpeggio in the next to last measure, to emphasize the ending. The first verse of Holy, Holy, Holy can be performed with handchimes, if desired, although the arrangement is not scored as such. The audio demonstration clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound. I believe that this is probably a 2+ (2 plus) arrangement in degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953728 Composed by Anonymous and Ralph E. Hudson. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14273. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953728). He Is So Good is a 3-4-5 octave, 45 measure medley of the Christian hymns God Is So Good and At the Cross (Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed) arranged for 3-4-5 octave handbell choirs. Because of the inclusion of At the Cross, this arrangement might be suitable for Easter/Lent. The overall theme is the love of God for us, whether as the Father or as Jesus. The strategy of this arrangement is to start out softly and *very* plainly and build---both in volume and in complexity. From the chorus of At the Cross to the end, a lot of doubling of the melody in the highest bells is used. There are two surprise modulations used in the chorus of At the Cross. In At the Cross there are chords used that are more interesting than those in the original hymn. After the triple-forte volume level at the end, there is a mezzo-piano tag, echoing the melody of the preceding musical phrase, with a chord progression that is substantially different from the original version of this hymn. This arrangement is probably a 3 plus (3+) level of difficulty, with the plus being due to some eighth-note runs in the bass line towards the end of At the Cross. The demonstration audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953723 Composed by Traditional English Melody. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14035. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953723). I Sing the Mighty Power of God is a 51 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir that has three contrasting verses based on the original Christian hymn. The first verse is fairly standard, except that some chord structures are used throughout the arrangement that are not the standard chords used in the original hymn. After the first verse (at the normal tempo) the tempo slows considerably, for a majestic effect, and the very lowest 4 octave bells are used for the melody line. At the same time, the chord structure here is provided by treble clef bells, from the bottom of the treble clef, through the highest note of the 5 octave range. This approach alternates with passages that are up to 5-octave unison passages. The early parts of the third verse are heavy on descant lines---sometimes descant chords instead of single-note descants, with a couple of bass runs in this verse, as well. There is a tag at the end---the last musical phrase is repeated with fuller chords at triple forte. There is a very non-standard chord, instead of the normal five-seven chord, right before the last chord. There is a brief shake on the first half of the last melody chord. This is probably about a level 2 degree of difficulty.

Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14447. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953730). The First Christmas is an 84 measure, 4-5 octave, handbell choir medley of the Christmas carols: The First Nowell, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, and Angels from the Realms of Glory Parts of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming are scored for OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes, but handbells can be substituted, if desired. Those two carol selections are reserved, reverent, soft and slow, in contrast to the first and last selections, which are much more exuberant in nature. This medley varies in tempo, volume levels, and style, throughout. Towards the end, there are tolls (swings) and a shake. It includes a brief introduction and an extended half-timed ending. Occasionally, there are descant lines and bass runs. I believe that this would be a level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953733 Composed by Frank M. Davis, Henry Smart, John Hughes, Robert Lowry, William B. Bradbury, and and George A. Young. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 10 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14705. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953733). God: Our Leader Medley is a 120 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir and 3 octaves of OPTIONAL associated handchimes, although the handchime parts can also be played by handbells. The overall theme is the leadership of God in the life of the Christian. This is a medley of 7 Christian hymns. The first 4 are requests---requests to God to lead us. The last 3 are descriptions of God leading us (responses by God). The 1st request is presented by the handchimes playing Savior Lead Me. This is a simple, easy to play section in the key of D. Still in D, the 2nd request is Lead on, O King Eternal. After a false modulation, the 3rd request is Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us. This features a few bass runs. After a modulation to the key of G, the 4th request starts with Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehova. Also featuring some bass runs, it also makes use of descant lines. The 1st response, also in G, is All the Way My Savior Leads Me. This section is not in the original 3/4 time, but in 4/4 time, although near the end it reverts to the normal 3/4. It makes heavy use of fills and a brief descant line. The 2nd response is a 6/4 version of God Leads Us Along in the key of C. Again, there is a brief descant line. The last response is He Leadeth Me, also in C, that features two descant passages, and bass runs in the last two lines. After the first section of the overall arrangement, the chords used are often significantly more interesting than the chords normally used with these 7 hymns. This arrangement uses various dynamic and tempo markings, in order to achieve musical contrast, and still be true to the character of the original hymns. (The MP3 audio demonstration file provided is in a piano patch (voice), although the actual arrangement is for (and, of course, will sound better with a) handbell choir.) This arrangement is probably a level 2+ (2 plus) degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953732 Composed by Oscar Ahnfelt and Charles H. Gabriel, Walter Stillman Martin, and William Henry Monk. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #15171. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953732). God: My Helper, Comforter, Companion, Provider, Protector is a 71 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir, and OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes. It is a medley of Christian hymns that deal with some of the attributes of God, as they relate to His followers. Specifically, it includes Abide with Me, God Will Take Care of You, Day by Day and Just When I Need Him Most. It is probably a level 3+ arrangement. The God Will Take Care of You section starts with a duet in the handchimes, with the melody line switching from treble clef to bass clef, in the verse. Of course, handbells can be used instead of handchimes, if desired. In the chorus, martellato is used in the bass clef, while there is a descant going on in the high treble clef, with the melody sandwiched in between. In the last section (Just When I Need Him Most) interesting chords, bass runs and melody line doubling, with chords filled in between the doubled melody notes, build to an ending culminating in a repeat of the last musical phrase, at a slower, more majestic tempo. The first 3 selections are more laid-back; the last is presented in a more energetic fashion.

The Saving Blood of Jesus is a 4-5 octave, 110 measure handbell choir arrangement, that is a medley of the Christian hymns: Nothing But the blood, Jesus Paid It All, The Old Rugged Cross, Down at the Cross, and There Is Power in the Blood. The theme of the arrangement is the blood of Jesus that was shed for us on the Cross. Three octaves of OPTIONAL handchimes (C4 through F6) are used in The Old Rugged Cross, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes, if desired. There is a brief introduction (...No other Fount I know...). Throughout most of this arrangement, use is made of descant lines and bass runs. There are contrasting styles, tempos, key signatures and dynamic levels within. Only the subject matter remains constant. Because of the emphasis on the Crucifixion, it can also be used as Easter music. This is probably a 3+ or 4- level of difficulty. Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953737 Composed by COMPOSER Henry John Gauntlett, and a Traditional French Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #30517. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953737). Song of Christmas is an arrangement for 3-4-5 octave handbell choir. It is a 56 measure Christmas carol medley. It starts with Once in Royal David's City, in the key of F. The first verse uses handchimes, although handbells can be substituted for the chimes, if desired. The second verse is louder, switches to handbells, uses fuller chords and is in the key of Bb. The last two musical phrases of this carol are repeated, grandioso. There is then a softer handchime repeat of the last phrase. Without pause, it begins a lively version of Sing We Now of Christmas in Eb. The melody alternates between handchimes and handbells. When the chimes are playing, the bells only play fills, etc. There is a brief (2 measure) passage with handbells in the key of D, then it switches back to Eb for the big ending, using only bells. The ending is half-timed, with a descending chordal descant to the martellato stinger. (Throughout the entire arrangement, handbells can substitute for handchimes.) This arrangement is probably about a level 2 degree of difficulty.
